Croatian Slavonija Matryoshka


Croatian Slavonija Matryoshka
Hello! This is my new drawing inspired by the people and folk dress from the Slavonija region of Croatia. She is now available in my shop as prints and a coloring sheet printable file. Also, merchandise with her adorning it can be found in my zazzle shop. She is my fourth Croatian drawing! Another of the many requests I've received. When I receive a request I add it to my suggestions list that I work from in the order I receive them. So far I've drawn over one hundred twenty cultural drawings and over thirty requests are waiting on my suggestions list. My suggestions list can be seen in the right hand column of my blog. I update it with new suggestions periodically and work from it from the top down. You can follow my progress by looking there and I always post my new drawings on this blog and around my social media accounts. I hope you like her! She was so detailed with lace, tassels, etc. It was quite a challenging drawing and quite fun! Thank you for all of your suggestions and support over the years.

Dominican Matryoshka

Hello! Summer is winding down and I don't mind because I love autumn! I can't wait for the beautiful autumn leaves here in North Carolina. I hope all is well with you. I would like to introduce you to my newest drawing, a Dominican Matryoshka! Prints in a variety of sizes and a coloring sheet (a printable to download) are now available in my shop. While doing research for this drawing I came across many images on the web and saved them to a pinterest board. Merchandise featuring this new drawing such as postcards, note cards, tote bags, and phone cases are available in my zazzle shop. Hello! I have a new drawing with two versions to choose from, a Sami with brown hair and one with blonde hair. Prints in a variety of sizes and a printable coloring sheet are now available in my Etsy shop and dot com. I receive many suggestions of cultures to draw. Whenever I receive a suggestion I add it to my suggestions list (you can see it in the right hand column of my blog). I work almost exclusively from this list in the order I receive the suggestions. I have always looked forward to getting to this suggestion. I had known the Sami people for their reindeer herding and I'm a nut for Christmas. So you know, "The Reindeer People" I couldn't wait! Well, I hyped myself up about it for so many years that when I finally got to it. . . it was a little intimidating. Luckily one of my collectors who suggested I draw a Sami sent me images to inspire me and gave me some good direction. I really couldn't do this without you all. Thank you for all your continued support! :)

Three Colombian Matryoshka

The only way to describe my experience researching Colombia is— So many cultures! So little time! There are so many beautiful cultures, I was absolutely overwhelmed with possibilities. I decided to narrow it down to three to start with, because I could not choose just one!

The "folk dancer" inspired Colombian is wearing the national colors of the flag: yellow, blue, and red. With a ruffled full skirt, perfect for twirling, and pretty flowers in her hair.

The Misak or Guambiana Colombian is a little girl from one of the many indigenous peoples of Colombia. I am fascinated by the different mountain people of the world and feel the kinship in their cultural ways of life.

The Palenquera of Cartagena Colombia represents the women who sell fruit and are known for their multicolored clothing, and posing with bowls of fruit carried on their heads. They are an African Diaspora culture of Colombia.

So you see why I could not draw just one. And with that, I salute the rich cultural diversity of Colombia!

Hello! I have just completed my Polish Bride from Łowicz, Matryoshka. She is the second Polish Matryoshka I have drawn. The first one I drew back in 2010.

Hello! Introducing my latest Matryoshka a China Poblana from Mexico. There are so many beautiful cultures in Mexico and so far I've drawn four of them!  Prints of various sizes and a coloring sheet PDF downloadable file are now available in my Etsy shop. Hello! We have been enjoying a beautiful spring here in Winston-Salem, NC. With the fear of frost over it's time to plant flowers in our yards and gardens. I hope you are having a beautiful season where you are too.

Today I would like to introduce you to my latest drawing, a Salvadoran Matryoshka! Prints of various sizes and a downloadable coloring sheet are now available in my Etsy shop. Postage stamps, postcards, note cards and tote bags are available in my zazzle shop.

I have also added a new design to my spoonflower shop. I was inspired last Christmas by our white Christmas tree and vintage ornaments, and designed this new pattern entitled White Christmas tree. It is now available on all different types of fabric, wall paper and gift wrap in my spoonflower shop.

Hello friends! This is my latest work an Aboriginal Australian Matryoshka! She was such fun to draw I hope you like the finished product! I've also been busy coming up with fall designs for my spoonflower shop. Two of the collections are Owl and Oak Night and Owl and Oak Day.

This summer I saw the new film version of Far from the Madding Crowd and then read the book by Thomas Hardy. They inspired me to draw this design, Shepherd, also available in my spoonflower shop.
