Pierrot, Jack in the Box toy craft printable

Pierrot, Jack in the Box toy craft printable

Hello! I've made a new Jack in the Box printable, a sweet Pierrot! Another fun, toy craft printable file. As usual I designed it to be made with a color printer, some heavy weight paper, a pair of scissors and a glue stick. It's now available in my shop! The convenience of purchasing a printable file is you can print as many, and as often, as you want. I hope you enjoy it. :)

Peace,

Amy

Cutie Patooties Mini Zine Printable

Cutie Patooties Mini Zine Printable
Hello! I've always wanted to make a mini zine, a little book. I have in the past made small coloring books, but I wanted to make a little artwork book in full color. I've been searching for inspiration for a while. Finally, I had an idea!! My family and I enjoy going to antique and thrift stores, and shopping for vintage items online too. The idea– I would take photographs of dolls and figures from my personal collection, and combine them with my drawings to create scenes that would evoke individual stories for each artwork.

The process, my preliminary sketches.
It was a month's worth of glorious fun (aka work)! First, I decided which vintage items to include and photographed them. Then, I took inspiration from the vintage items to create settings for each of them. I sketched out the settings in pencil and scanned them into the computer. Next, I made some minor changes to the vintage item photos, placed the photos in my drawing program along with the pencil sketches, and drew the scenes. And finally, I created a one page layout for the book that could be printed and easily folded and cut into a little paper book. After printing many proofs, and making adjustments, it was complete. I've titled the mini zine “Cutie Patooties” because it is a phrase from the 1920’s and 30’s and I thought it described and went well with the vintage items. The book features seven artworks and a table of contents listing the titles of each piece.

Doll head that inspired "Tasha Dreams".
The doll head I used in the artwork “Tasha Dreams” I’ve had since I was little. The body disappeared years ago, in fact I can’t even remember what it looked like or why it’s gone (a mishap probably when we moved from SC to NC). All that remains is this cute little head. I could never part with it. It was just too adorable! And now, at last, I understand why. It was meant to be included in this little book! It reminds me of my daughter with her jet black hair so I named the artwork it inspired “Tasha Dreams” after her. Tasha can always tell when a drawing is based on her because I always include a swirl of hair at the hairline like the one at the top of her forehead.

So I hope you will hop on over to my shop and check it out. I've listed the mini zine printable in both my dot com and my Etsy shop as a file to download and print yourself. I even have a step by step video of how to fold and cut it into a book (please see below).

Thank you for your interest and support.

Peace,
Amy

Nicaraguan Matryoshka

Nicaraguan Matryoshka
Hello! Since my last post, I have completed a Nicaraguan Matryoshka. Prints and a coloring sheet are now available (and other products as well). This is the fourth Central American culture I've drawn. I pinned a board of Nicaraguan images I found around the web here.

Russian Doll & Snowman, A Snow Globe Love Story, Coloring & Activity Book Printable

I also have a new coloring and activity book printable PDF,  "Russian Doll & Snowman, A Snow Globe Love Story"! I have offered this coloring/activity book in the past but now I'm making the file itself available. So you can print as many as you'd like for a one time price. It includes 4 coloring pages, a maze, a "draw your own snow globe scene", and 2 tent card dolls to make. Also a full color cover and a table of contents.

Peace,
Amy

African Matryoshka Party Favor / Gift Boxes PDF Printable

African Party Favor / Gift Boxes (constructed)
African Party Favor / Gift Boxes (backs)
I often get requests for PDFs made from my international Matryoshka illustrations. So, I'm coming up with PDFs incorporating some of my international Matryoshka faces. This first batch is my African Party Favor / Gift Boxes PDF printables. Don't they look festive? I placed one of the girl's face from my Matryoshka Tuareg Family illustration on my Matryoshka Party Favor Box and created these six colorful boxes. I hope you like them. :)

My Matryoshka Party Kit Printable PDF includes all this!

Cookie Doll Decoration Card
Invitation
Thank You Card

Another Close-up

My Matryoshka Favor Box

These are my original designs and I worked really hard to make each item easy to assemble. I'm very pleased with the way the Matryoshka Favor Box came out. It's one continuous piece with only one tab to glue!

My Matryoshka Invitations
I wanted the invitation to have some aspect of how a nesting doll works but I wanted to minimize construction work. I decided to come up with a design that did not require cutting, only folding (the cards do come 2 to a sheet so the only cutting is cutting the 2 cards apart on a dotted line). I think I achieved the effect I was going for with minimal effort for the assembler. The card is designed to open in the middle (like a nesting doll). Open the doll to reveal the hidden invitation!

My Matryoshka Thank You Cards
The Thank You Cards are just a simple fold over card with a blank inside.

Matryoshka Party Activities
(3 Paper Dolls that stand and nest, 2 Coloring Sheets, 4 Finger Dancer Dolls)
I've tried to anticipate your needs by offering an entire Party kit and also offering two smaller kits: an Activities Kit, and a Decorations Kit. The Favor Box, Invitations, Thank You Cards and Coloring sheets are also sold separately. If there is any other configuration or item you are wanting to purchase individually, please let me know and I will make additional listings.

I think these Matryoshka party kits are perfect for birthday parties, bridal showers, or baby showers! I hope you like them! Happy parties! :)

Matryoshka Coloring Sheets PDF

Matryoshka Russian Nesting Doll Coloring Sheets PDF
I have been busy working on a Matryoshka party kit chock-full of fun and helpful printable PDFs. I can't wait for you to see them! I wanted to give you a taste while I complete the design of the other elements. These coloring sheets come as a two page PDF file. Page 1 shows a single black and white version of my Classic Matryoshka Russian Doll, and page 2 shows three nesting dolls. Fun for a bored rainy day activity, and fun and economical for party or classroom activities. Once purchased you can print as many as you like as often as you want! I hope you like them and are inspired by this and my future party kit to have your own Matryoshka themed party! Happy May my friends! :)

Hello Autumn!

Today is the first day of autumn here (I live in North Carolina in the US). I love autumn. The summer was so hot and humid. I love the cooler weather, and the long shadows while playing outside on a late September afternoon. Our autumn leaves don't peak until mid to late October but the anticipation of their magnificent colors, and picking out pumpkins to decorate our front porch and carve as jack-o'-lanterns, is exciting! I am wishing you a beautiful September, where you are, what ever the season. OvO
Above are some of my creations to help celebrate the coming of autumn.

Alice and Nadine

I had a fun morning today. I visited my friend Nadine Buckinger and after a nice chat we traveled over to the Gateway gallery where her work is on exhibit. Remember my earlier post about her beautiful encaustic paintings? I am so happy and proud of her. She is a big hit and her paintings are going so fast. She had already sold eleven of the ones on exhibit! I knew the day I met her and saw her work for the first time she was really talented. Congratulations Nadine! Continued Success!! :)
