Hello, my friends! It has been too long. This marks the beginning of a new chapter in my work. Now I am bringing you news not only of my drawings and designs but of my new creative endeavor—writing!
My longtime social media followers will recognize the inspiration behind this journey! Since the beginning of 2024, I have been drawing portraits of my wonderful artistic muse, the incredible Sanaa Abourezk of Sanaa's Gourmet Mediterranean (her restaurant in Sioux Falls, SD). Sanaa's compassionate nature, brilliant culinary background, and beautiful life completely captured my imagination.
What started as an artistic admiration turned into an incredible connection. Getting to know Sanaa, hearing about her real-life garden origins, her beautiful history, and her deep passion for philanthropy and the environment sparked a story in me. In fact, her generosity gave me the courage and confidence to do something I’ve always dreamed of doing.
I am beyond thrilled to finally share this secret project: My very first children's book, Sanaa’s Garden: The Adventures of Sadie the Cat, is officially out now on Amazon! This is the first book in my planned series, The Adventures of Sadie the Cat, and I can't wait to share more of her world with you over time.
This story is my love letter to community, empathy, and making friends. It follows Sadie, a charming, solitary indoor cat who pushes past her comfort zone when her neighbor, a dedicated gardener named Sanaa, plants a beautiful garden. Together, they navigate a series of funny backyard misunderstandings that ultimately blossom into an unexpected friendship.
Whether you read it aloud to a younger child or use it as a fun challenge for an independent reader, this book is filled with gentle entry points to talk about big emotions, nature's pollinators, and community. I truly hope it inspires joyful friendships for your families!
