Armenian Matryoshka |
Armenian Matryoshka sketch |
Hi, and Happy Independence Day (long holiday weekend) to those of you in the US. I just completed my Armenian Matryoshka. She wears a sheer veil, silver coin necklace and long ringlet curls. I fell in love with her and her culture as I drew her. I hope you like her too! Please keep the suggestions coming! :)

I definitely am falling in love with her as I'm looking at this gorgeous new illustration. You know what else? I actually learn a lot from following your work. I never knew what Armenian traditional attire even looked like. Thanks for giving me a little dose of culture, Mrs. Perotti!
Thank you Holly! I hope my work sparks people's interest and curiosity, and inspires them to do some research on their own to learn more about each culture. :) Amy
She is so regal, and I love to see your preliminary sketches!
I have some suggestions for your list that I would love to see your interpretation of: Mongolian, Uzbek and Kazakh. Their traditional clothes are so beautifully elaborate!

The Indian dolls are my favourite (I'm of Indian origin.) Perhaps you can try drawing a South Indian doll? Love it all! neetalogsetty@sympatico.ca

Hi Neeta, Thank you for the suggestion. I have added it to my list! I've been wanting to draw another Indian matryoshka! :)
Hi Danielle, Thank you for the suggestion. I have a Greek Matyoshka in traditional dress but not an Ancient Grecian. This is my Greek one: http://www.etsy.com/shop/AmyPerrotti/search?search_query=Greek&search_submit=&search_type=user_shop_ttt_id_5485470&shopname=AmyPerrotti
Hello! I am new follower! And I also would like to enter your giveaway... my suggestion is: what about a ballerina one? x
Thank you for your suggestion Another Diamond Day. I will add ballerina to my suggestions list. Actually ballerina has been suggested before but since I usually draw a specific nationality/ethnicity I wasn't sure how to depict. If you have any suggestions please let me know. :)
How about the Sugar Plum Fairy ballerina from Tchaikovsky's "Nutcracker Suite"? Or something from "Swan Lake" maybe. Just some ideas for you to ponder :)
Yes, Zsuzsa, that is what I was thinking too. The Sugar Plum Fairy! Thank you for the suggestion. :)
