Gnomette

How do you like my Gnomette? Okay, so I couldn't resist drawing a female version of a gnome. She was really fun to draw! :) I kept with the same color scheme as the male gnome so they can be paired together. If you are familiar with my work you may also notice I gave her a Portuguese inspired embroidered apron. Again, I just couldn't resist! So this isn't true to any particular culture but a mix of some favorite elements from different ones.
Happy weekend to you all and happy long weekend to those of us in the US.

Thank you Yasmin! I think of you whenever I mention the Portuguese culture! :)

You just helped me come to the realization that females are severely underrepresented in the gnome community. It's a good thing for creative people like you who can help correct this obvious oversight. Plus, she's SUPER cute!

Thanks for entering my giveaway!

LOL Thanks Holly you are a trip! Yes, I guess I am always trying to advance females. A saying from China is that girls hold up half the sky. So I guess it is only right that I should try to honor them as often as I do.
You are a sweetheart! :)

Thanks Kim! We have a gnome statue peeking out of some lilies next to our porch steps! He he. We are an odd breed. :) I would love to make statuary. . . where to begin? I so loved gnomes when I was a kid that I made a male and a female using the red wax that gouda cheese is wrapped in (I guess I didn't have any modeling clay) I still have them. LOL I did say weird. So if you were to eat allot of gouda cheese and send me the wax I could sculpt a female gnome that you could make a mold from I suppose. . . LOL Nah, I think my wax sculpting days are in the past. I remember it being particularly hard to get the wax off my hands. This comment has gotten too long, and too strange! ;)

By the way how long did it took your shop to have a sale?
Fiends are askimg if I had a sale yet. And I'm new to this etsy I have no idea how son that can be. I told them I ask etsy people who are longer in this community. So I was thinking to ask you, if you do not mind:)

Have a great day.

Hi Lorena,
I opened my shop around the end of February 2009. I sold my first item the first week in March. There isn't a typical way it tends to go though. There are so many variables; what you are selling, what time of year it is, the economy. I seem to be selling more this year than last.

It helps to have allot of items in your shop. At least a couple of pages worth. The more items you have the more likely someone will come across your shop when they do a search for something specific.

Don't get discouraged. It takes time for people to find you. The key is to try to up the traffic (people visiting your site). The more traffic you get the more likely you are to get a sale. There is lots of good advice in the Etsy Forums: http://www.etsy.com/forums_main.php

Does anyone else have any thoughts or advice for Lorena? This is her shop: http://www.etsy.com/shop/lorenabr

Good Luck! :)
